2K DTM High Build Primer

Description:

Custom Paints Direct to Metal (DTM) Primer. VOC 2.1
2K DTM Primer-Surfacer with exceptionally high build and direct-to-metal properties. Very soft sanding, wet or dry after short dry times. 2K DTM Primer provides no shrinkage and the maximum in color holdout properties available.

Available in 3 colors: grey, white and black which can be blended to make different shades of grey. Suitable for: Car, Motor bike, Caravan, Commercial Vehicle and industrial industry. Mixing:

The mixing ratio for 2K DTM High Build Primer:

• 4 parts 2K DTM High Build Primer
• 1 part DTM Activator

The mixing ratio for 2K DTM Sealer:

• 4 parts 2K DTM High Build Primer
• 1 part DTM Activator
• 1 Part 2K Reducer

2K DTM Primer includes:

2K High Build Primer 1 Quart:

• 1 Quart High Build Primer.
• 1/2  Pint Activator.

2K High Build Primer 1 Gallon:

• 1 Gallon 2K DTM High Build Primer.
• 1 Quart DTM Activator.

SURFACE PREPARATION:

Clean and dry the surface. Sand surface with P220—P380 grit abrasive.

MIXING:

4 Parts 2k DTM Primer  
1 Part Activator 
Reduction of up to 10-15% with Urethane reducers

OPTIONAL MIX 4:1:1 as a SEALER (4 parts primer 1 part Activator, 1 part 2K reducer)

POT LIFE 1 Hour @ 70°F (20°C)

Siphon Feed: 1.6 mm – 2.0 mm (0.063” – 0.079”)
Gravity Feed: 1.6 mm – 2.0 mm (0.063” – 0.079”)

HVLP
Siphon Feed: 1.6 mm – 2.0 mm (0.063” – 0.079”)
Gravity Feed: 1.6 mm – 2.0 mm (0.063” – 0.079”)

Air Pressures
Conventional
Siphon Feed: 35-45 psi at the gun
Gravity Feed: 30-40 psi at the gun
HVLP 8-10 psi at the gun

APPLICATION:

Clean surface thoroughly using accepted body shop procedures. Sand per accepted body shop procedures for substrate being used and final clean with solvent wipe. Apply 2-3 medium coats of 2K DTM Primer with 10-15 minutes flash between coats. Do not apply more primer after 1 hour from completion.

FLASH TIME/DRY TIMES @ 72ºF / 22.2ºC:
Flash/Dry Times (Air Dry):
Flash Between Coats: 10-15 minutes
Wet Sanding: 1 hour
Dry Sanding: 1 hour
INFRA RED 15-20 minutes

Times can vary depending on the air temperature and air movement.

 
RE-COAT: Topcoat within 24 hours of sanding. If time exceeds 24 hours, the primed surface must be sanded and cleaned again prior to application of primer or topcoat.

SANDING: Dry & D.A.: P400—P600 Wet Sanding: P500—P600
